Random UPC Codes for Testing
When random UPC codes are useful, and when they should never be used.
Good Uses
Random UPC-A and EAN-13 values are useful for software testing, sample CSV files, internal QA, mock labels, and demo workflows.
Bad Uses
Random UPC/EAN values must not be used for real products, Amazon, Walmart, Google Shopping, or any retail workflow that requires an officially assigned GTIN.
Export Carefully
When you export test UPCs, label the file clearly and keep it separate from production product data.
